Cristian Pârvulescu

Cristian Pârvulescu was born on 9 January 1965 in Ploieşti, Prahova County. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy within the University of Bucharest in 1989. He has got a PhD in political studies. The title of his doctoral thesis is Trends and Evolutions within the Dynamics of (West) European Political Parties at the end of the 20th centur.

Cristian Pârvulescu worked as a Philosophy teacher between 1989 and 1992 and then as a lecturer in the field of political studies at The National Institute of Political and Administrative Studies (S.N.S.P.A). He has also been holding classes in the same field at 'Dimitrie Cantemir' University, at 'Hyperion' University, as well as at the University of Bucharest.

He was a member in the editorial committee and then deputy chief editor for the Sfera Politicii magazine (1994-1997), a publication focused on political studies. He is also a founding member of the Romanian Association of Political Studies and a founding member of the Romanian Society of Political Sciences as well. In 1999 he has become the president of the Pro Democraţia (Pro-Democracy) Association.

Cristian Pârvulescu is often invited to participate in the ardent media debates of the day. Thus, he has often written articles for a series of magazines such as 22, Dilema and has often spoken for BBC, Free Europe Radio Station, Radio România Actualităţi, Radio România Internaţional, Radio 3 and Contact, Total, Europa FM or MixFM radio stations. He has also taken part in televised debates such as the ones organized by TVR, Antena 1, PrimaTV or ProTV.

Cristian Pârvulescu took up, as well, professional development courses in France, Germany, The Netherlands and The United States of America. He undertook an impressive amount of research work, published numerous articles and works and participated in seminars, debates, conferences and symposia concerning the field of political studies.

He has good knowledge of both French and English.
